📊 Understanding Embroidery File Metrics
When you upload a design, the viewer shows critical data that helps you estimate production time and material usage:
- Stitch count – Total number of needle penetrations. More stitches mean longer run time.
- Color changes / stops – Every time the machine pauses for a thread change. This affects total run time.
- Jumps & trims – Jumps are travel stitches with the needle up, while trims are thread cuts. Frequent trims increase production time.
- Run time – Estimated minutes and seconds based on 800 stitches per minute, a typical commercial machine speed.
- Hoop suggestion – Minimum hoop size needed to stitch the design without collision.
